MOSCOW, Jun 6 (PRIME) -- Russian Railways will have to invest 492 billion rubles in the second stage of the Baikal–Amur Mainline (BAM) and the Trans–Siberian Railway (Transsib), Pavel Ivanov, director of the traffic management department, said at a briefing on Wednesday.

“We are carrying out large-scale development projects of Transsib and BAM, and the second stage of the development, until 2025, has been already calculated today. (It is) 492 billion rubles,” Ivanov said.

The official said that Russian Railways will use own funds to finance the project.

The first stage of the BAM and Transsib upgrade, one of the largest infrastructure projects in modern Russia, was estimated at 562.4 billion rubles, of which 110.2 billion rubles were financed from the state budget and 150 billion rubles from the National Wealth Fund.
